Did Dixie Do Her Job?

Last night When I got settled in bed I asked my daughter to keep my closet door open just enough to give Dixie an opening to get in there should she hear the mouse again. No sooner did the lights go off and my daughter leave my room while shutting my bedroom door behind her I heard a scuttle. That mouse evidently had no fear of  cats or people or he was still  really really hungry  because Dixie ran in the closet and though I couldn’t see anything, there was a bit of scuffle going on in their. Suddenly it got quite and I soon fell asleep.

The next  morning as I was getting up with help from my daughter and I was telling her about the events between Dixie and the mouse last evening at the same time looking all around my bedroom floor in case we might see a dead mouse.  Nothing, not a sign of a mouse. Cats usually and proudly bring their conquest to their owners  laying them down at there feet. With that thought in my mind I was fearful a dead mouse might be on my bed this morning. When I got into the bathroom My daughter asked me what the red stuff  was on my floor. I swirled my chair around and saw more red marks here and their and then the little black dead mouse,  Dixie had done her job.  Now this story does not end here because I’m still storing the bird and squirrel feed in my closet and will always keep my closet door open just enough for Dixie to slide through.

Are You For Real?

There's a Mouse in My House!

 As  most of you know I'm in a wheelchair, so when my daughter gets me settled in bed at night I'm kinda stuck there. I have buzzers on my bed rails that ring in my daughters house should I need  something. I saw this little black  mouse in my room and  rang the buzzer several times. My daughter  came right in and I excitedly told her about the mouse. She was sympathetic but asked, "what is it you want me to do, stand guard in here all night? Even  with that I can't  catch the mouse with my bare hands Mom. we'll get mouse  traps tomorrow. In the meantime you have  two cats that stay shut in the room with you all night."

She's right and Dixie was watching the closed closet door in a frozen like position, and I have Little Girl sitting on my other pillow next to my head. I'm pretty sure no mouse is  going to jump up on my bed. I fell asleep shortly after and when I woke up in the morning both my cats were sitting quietly on my bed. There was no dead mouse any where in my house so I'm guessing he went out the same way he came in. I store my bird seed in my closet so  I shouldn't wonder why I have mice visiting me and I have two cats so I shouldn't get overly excited next time I see a mouse.

What Is Going On ?

 I was in my bedroom watching TV when Dixie my cat ran in from the living room and ran around my wheelchair a couple of times then ran back to the  living  room. She then repeated the same run so this time I followed her back to the living room to see what she was up to. She had jumped up  onto the back of my couch  that sits in front of this big picture window
Their were flashing lights on several police cars parked on the street along with a waiting ambulance. Evidently their was a car that had gone off the road and was resting on a slight hill with a pretty  good size drop off. It turns out the occupants of the car got out safely with no  serious injuries. The interesting part of the story is my Dixies reaction, she wanted me to see it!

My Autumn Cat

My Dixie cat is so very much fun,

I bring her out often for her daily run.

She mostly likes the big Maple trees,

With their many red and orange leaves.

One red leaf dropped on her head,

And slowly slipped down her nose.

Her yellow eyes only saw bright red,

She brushed it away with her paw-toes.

I gather the leaves up into a big pile,

And so begins much laughter for a while.

Jumping in and out in and out my crazy cat

Til there’s nothing left leaving the pile flat.

She stands at my feet looking up at me,

I kinda know what it is that she wants

Gather up another pile and you will see,

I will entertain you once again for free.

Said my special little Autumn kitty.

My Shadow

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see.
He is very, very like me from the paws up to the head;
And I see him jump before me, when I jump into my bed.

The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow
Not at all like proper kitty’s, which is always very slow;
For he sometimes shoots up higher like an blue yarn ball,
And he sometimes gets so little that there’s none of him at all.

He hasn’t got a notion of how kittens ought to play,
And can only make a fool of me in every sort of way.
He stays so close beside me, he’s a coward you can see;
I’d think shame to stick to mommy as that shadow sticks to me!

One morning, very early, before the sun was up,
I rose and found the shining dew on every buttercup;
But my lazy little shadow, like an arrant sleepy head,
Had stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep in bed.
